Our program concentrates on the achievement gap for at-risk, economically disadvantaged children and addresses two main goals, including: improved academic performance and family involvement. The target populations include youth (grades K-12) and their families. The intended outcomes of the program include: improvement in completion of homework assignments, improvement in math and reading skills, increased participation in student’s academic lives by family members; and an increased dedication to school and motivation to remain in school.
Based on extensive research, state statistics, and youth needs, New Path Academy aims to increase utilization of community resources, increase parental involvement, increase teacher and school involvement by facilitating communication between student, family, and community organizations using a student centered model. To administer pre, interim, and post assessments based on each student’s identified needs. Create an individualized student learning plan based on weaknesses identified in assessments to include academic, community, and family. To improve standardized test scores or academic subject area achievement by providing small class sizes and differentiated curriculum. New Path Academy places emphasis on facilitating student discussion groups.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics Initiative S.T.E.A.M. Incorporates High Interest Based Education as a valuable teaching tool to expand a student’s personal educational experience. The mission is to prepare students for college, careers, and global citizenship by offering a fundamentally different approach to education that is designed to address the needs of the 21st century learners. We are driven by the belief that students will excel when provided with a personalized educational experience and a curriculum that is applicable to the real world. Goals are to improve academic achievement core areas IE. Reading, Writing, Math, and Science, promote positive youth development, personal growth to help enhance motivation, dedication and academic performance, and entrepreneurial education to address high unemployment rates and poverty. Physical Education students will be provided physical education and team sports programming by experienced coaches, to include lessons about attitude, physical health, and good character.
Target students who are underperforming in the traditional classroom, are at-risk of dropping out of school and/or risky behaviors. Core service is providing project based learning integrated curricula/professional development training and workshops. The program is designed to continually capture student’s imaginations and turn their academics into relevant real world experience and skills.
Program goals are to (1) Improve academic achievement and understanding in core academic areas (i.e., reading, writing, math and science); (2) promote positive youth development and personal growth to help enhance motivation, dedication, and academic performance; and (3) enhance parenting skills and literacy to promote involvement and improve family conditions for participating students.
